We all know that Argentinean beef is the best in the world. But, why?A combination of unique factors makethis happen. Most of the cattle raised in Argentina occurs in The Pampas. Which located in the center of the country. There the weather is mainly tempered, with average temperatures of 15°C (59°F). Rainfall ranges from 600mm to 1000mm. This microclimate unlike the subtropical or tropical, makes our terroir very fertile, thusmeaning that the grass contains a superior proteic quality and energetic values, and it is rich in nutrients, with less fiber. And it is all natural.
It´s about quality!
Argentinian meat producers have historically worked hard on improving the genetic of the breeds, which, in addition to the unique conditions of cattle rising in The Pampas, has led to Argentine cattle to be worlwide considered the best in the world.
Our grass-fed livestock lives their entire lives on grassland. No hormones or other fattening products are added into their diet, making our beef organic.
Grass-fed animals (as opposed to grain-fed animals) eat a wide variety of (often wild) grasses, sedges, rushes, shrubs, and herbs, each with its own nutrient profile.
Grass-fed beef is also high in B-vitamins, beta-carotene (look for yellow fat), vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol), vitamin K, and trace minerals like magnesium, calcium, and selenium.
Studies have shownthat grass-feeding results in higher levels of conjugated linoleic acid, the “good” naturally-occurring trans fat. They have also shown lower total levels of saturated, monounsaturated, and polyunsaturated fats in grass-fed cows, meaning thatgrass-fed animals are leaner.
Importantly, in countries where cattle isgrain-fed (for example, in Australia and United States), the animals are given a diet of just corn (because it is inexpensive) or soy, often with fillers that include animal by-products. Cows are not carnivores; they do not eat meat. Feeding them with animal by-products produces a drastic change in their digestive systems, which has been linked to Mad-Cow Disease.
It is undisputed that grass-fed animals produce meat of superior quality than grain-fed animals. When we add to that equation the unique quality of our grassland in The Pampas, it is clear that Argentinian beef is one step above the rest.
It is for all these reasons that El Gaucho only provides grass-fed steer meat from The Pampas. In other words, El Gaucho only provides the best meat in the world.
