Background:The Gerin family has established itself in “Ampuis”, a village in the heart of the Côte-Rôtie vineyard for 6 generations. Jean-Michel Gerin is considered one of the masters of the region, producing Syrahs with purity and bringing out the richness of Viognier. He is not only a charismatic man, but also one of the greatest winemakers in the Northern Rhône. Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin was created in 1983, when Jean-Michel purchased his first vines in Cote-Rotie. Today, the domaine covers 14 hectares, and he produces his wines with his two sons Michael and Alexis. Gerin's wines aim for fragrance and sumptuous texture. He focuses on the structure based on fruit rather than tannins. The domaine employs copious use of wood, yet the wines integrate it in a remarkable way, a great representation of subtly oaked fruit purity.
